Badgers enjoyed a fun-filled day at the Aerozone at Stansted airport and learnt all about the history of the airport, finding out about the many jobs there and even meeting a real life pilot (before he was heading out on a flight to Paris!), baggage handlers and a policeman. They had the opportunity to find out about a day in the life of a pilot and watch some truly amazing scenery taken from the cockpit; they also dressed up as different workers, designed new paper aircraft, investigated flight and air resistance with science models and identified countries and capitals on a huge world map. The highlight of the day was definitely being able to go outside to the viewing platform – on the runway – and watch multiple flights taking off and landing right before our eyes; it was amazing to see the runways alive with action with planes stacking, turning, being pulled by a tug and to experience the noise of the engines as they roared along and up, up and away! …we also managed to get a plane or two to flash their lights at us as we frantically waved! It was a fantastic trip and we certainly bought back many thrilled children, who now have ambitions to work at the airport! Thank you to the parents who joined us on the experience… next time, we should take the children’s advice and take a holiday from there as a trip!
