The Newport Primary School Parent Forum meets with the Headteacher at least once a term (two are usually held in the Autumn Term).  The aims of the Parent Forum are:

  • To learn about the school community and parental perspectives
  • Raise awareness of the views of our parent community
  • Consult on relevant changes such as projects, policies and local issues in the school community
  • Explore views on specific concerns or issues
  • Triangulate governor, parent and staff viewpoints
  • Gain support for school projects or goals

The Parent Forum is not the space to bring up individual grievances or to ask about specific individuals.

Parent reps nominate themselves for each class, there can be a maximum of 2 representatives.  Prior to the meeting the parent reps will ask other members of their class parent group if they have anything they would like to be brought to the meeting.  These questions/comments are then shared with the Headteacher at least one week ahead of the meeting, where they will be responded to.

Sometimes the Headteacher may ask for feedback on a specific event or topic and will use the Parent Forum representatives to support with this.
