  • Mother's Day Brunch

    Fri 29 Mar 2019 Miss K Chandler

Newport had a busy morning as we invited all mums and carers in to share in our Mothers Day brunch. Plenty of bacon butties and sausage sandwiches were consumed, along with cups of tea and coffee as the 'mums' were joined by their children to make Mother's Day crafts. The hum of industrious cutting, sticking and chatting filled the hall and the children enjoyed working alongside their mums to create some wonderful art.

Thank you to everyone who supported this event and to the school cooks for preparing all of the food.

  • Y1 and Y2 dance festival at Rickling

    Wed 27 Mar 2019 Miss K Chandler

Hedgehog and Woodmouse classes had a fantastic time 'moving and grooving' at the dance festival this morning at Rickling school. They performed in front of other schools and the sports partnership group with great co-ordination, rhythm and all with a smile on their faces!

Hedgehogs danced to Katy Perry's Firework with amazing bold moves and Woodmouse class moved to 'We like to Move it, move it!' - a great rhythmic song with co-ordinated movements from all.

They look forward to performing it to the school on Friday...we're sure, we'll all want to get up and dance along!

  • World Book Day Fun!

    Fri 08 Mar 2019 Miss K Chandler

Newport School opened its doors to crowds of different characters on Thursday as we celebrated World Book Day; the children and staff came dressed as their favourite book characters and the classes were filled with: wonderous wizards, snow queens, unusual animals, strange creatures and numerous Roald Dahl favourites!

The children enjoyed a fun filled day and joined in with activities set up in their classes as well as completing a session in the school hall which was set up with a reading tent, book activities, quizzes, scavenger hunts, role playing props and colouring bunting and bookmarks.

It was great to see so many fabulous costumes on parade and the children certainly enjoyed guessing each others roles and exploring the wonderful world of books!

At the end of the day, each child left with their £1 book token, hoping to find a bargain this weekend...happy reading!
