  • New toilets for Y3 and Y4

    Tue 14 Nov 2023

Team Newport's fundraising efforts came to fruition this month as work began on refurbishing our new toilets for Y3 and 4; Mr Purcell and the builders from The Hill Group worked tirelessly over the half term and subsequent two weeks to provide us with the much needed toilets and we are so pleased with them!

On Monday 13th October, the new toilets were revealed to the school and we had a ceremonious 'cutting of the ribbon' completed by the class ambassadors of years 3 and 4; the event was attended by all staff and class members of both year groups, as well as the 'running squad' ( minus Mrs Pine - who will be seeing them soon!) and two builders from Hill.

Take a look at the before and after shots...and the excited faces of the classes seeing them revealed for the first time!

  • Poppies at the Church

    Sun 12 Nov 2023

Remembrance Sunday was a joyful event as both the youngest child in school, along with one of the oldest in the school, laid the wreaths on behalf of the Newport school community.

Every class made different poppies during the week, after learning all about the significance of poppies and recognising the 11th September as a significant date in history. An assembly was held on Friday with the whole school to mark this event and the children completed their 2 minutes silence at 11am.

The poppies, made in school, were made into two wreaths, which were taken to St Mary's on Sunday for the Church service. The two children walked respectfully amongst the Beavers, Brownies, Rainbows and Cubs and then laid their wreaths alongside those from the whole community. It was a very poignant service to be part of and one, which we recognise as being important to always mark with our children.
