We started our new geography topic with a local area walk. As we walked around Newport, we were searching for aspects of physical and human geography. We also learned a lot about the local history of Newport.
We learnt about rainforests and how Madagascar has rainforests. We know the four layers of the rainforest: emergent, canopy, understorey and forest floor. To help us remember, we created our own rainforests out of shoeboxes. Each group made a layer, and these are stuck at the back of our classroom to make a full rainforest!
We took a trip to Colchester Zoo to learn about different animals. We saw lots of different animals, including animals from Madagascar! The children (and adults) all had lots of fun.
