Sports Day

It was a delight to have a proper sports day back on the school calendar; the children loved their day and it was a joy to have parents into school to watch the events.

A day full of sunshine saw KS2 complete their events in the morning, followed by KS1 doing theirs in the afternoon. The children all competed for their house teams and showed great skills in different events consisting of: basketball throwing, bean bag targets, obstacle races, long jump, zig zag running, hockey dribbling and speed bounce. With carousel events completed, each class then ran their sprint races to cheers of onlookers as they hurtled down the track! One Y1 child commented that 'This is the best day ever!' and I totally agree with that thought. It was lovely to see the children working together in mixed teams showing real 'Teamwork Tamwar' skills and to see the other Super Squad skills of focusing and persevering also being very useful in competing in events.

Well done Team Newport.
